The Art of Letting Go
Sometimes we hold on because we believe letting go means admitting that something didn’t matter.
It did matter.
The relationship mattered.
The dream mattered.
The opportunity mattered.
The person mattered.
The season mattered.
But something can matter deeply and still no longer belong in your present.
Letting go is not always about forgetting.
Sometimes it is about accepting that you cannot keep living in yesterday and fully inhabit today at the same time.
You may need to release an old expectation.
A painful memory.
A relationship that has run its course.
The need for someone’s apology.
The version of yourself you have outgrown.
Or the belief that your life must unfold according to the plan you once imagined.
Letting go can feel like loss before it feels like freedom.
That is why it requires courage.
You are making space.
Space for peace.
Space for new possibilities.
Space for the person you are becoming.
Ask yourself:
What am I still carrying that I no longer need to carry?
What would become possible if I stopped trying to control what I cannot change?
What am I ready to place in God’s hands?
You don’t have to release everything in one day.
Sometimes letting go happens quietly, one decision, one boundary, one prayer at a time.
Peace sometimes begins where our grip finally ends.
